Our Trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

We took the kids to Gatlinburg on fall break this year and had a great time! It was very sad to be editing these photos while a wildfire raged there. It's such a beautiful area. Praying the land and community recover quickly!

We are super slow travelers - the drive should have taken about seven and a half hours, but it took us about 13. One reason we were so slow was a stop at Cumberland Falls in Corbin, Kentucky. We stopped there once before but wanted to explore a little more this time.

We had pizza and a game night when we finally made it to our cabin right outside of downtown Gatlinburg.

We loved having the hot tub at the cabin!

No trip to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is complete without a trip to The Track for go karts and bumper boats!

We spent most of a day at Cade's Cove in the national park. We've been there before but only to drive through. This time we took time to hike back to several of the homesteads and churches.

We spent part of a day at Ober Gatlinburg. Daniel and the kids all loved the alpine slide and ski lift. I'm a wimp about that kind of stuff and it took a bit of talking to get me to do the ski lift but I drew the line at the alpine slide.

Jack and Jonah insisted on seeing the bears at Ober Gatlinburg, but turns out we should have just saved that money - we saw some on Roaring Fork Road later that evening!

On our last full day there, we drove up to Clingman's Dome. The drive up was beautiful but the hike up to the top was brutal. It's a half mile paved trail, but it's pretty steep and I was sick too, so it was rough!
