Megen and Peter are, as far I could see, absolutely perfect for each other, and they had an awesomely simple ceremony and reception last week at White Chapel and O'Shaughnessy Hall. From a ceremony at their alma mater, to flowers grown by Peter's mom, and the rings they made themselves, everything about the day was so perfect for them.

I met up with Megen and her mom and friends at Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday morning. I got there just in time for Megen's first experience with an eyelash curler. Megen was the most chill and calm bride I think I've ever seen.

That handkerchief? It was handmade by Peter's aunt with their names and wedding date around the side. The dress? It was her mom's (with a few alterations and changes - like removing the 80's puffy sleeves).

Over in Peter's suite, he and his brothers were busy trying to remember exactly how to tie a tie.

Megen and Peter chose to have a first look and I'm so glad they did. It was a sweet time for them to have alone and it got some nerves out of the way before the ceremony and got more photos out of the way too so they could get to their reception quicker- they wanted to spend as much time as possible with their friends and family.

Remember when I said they made their own rings? I didn't just mean they designed them, they actually made them. She even had a Dremel in her hotel room for a final buffing.

Megen was so relaxed about the wedding, she even told the bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses. The only thing she specified was the color. So, they both went shopping on their own and still showed up with the same dress anyway.

It was a short and sweet ceremony for them at the beautiful White Chapel.

Their reception was at O'Shaughnessy Hall at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. This is definitely one of the prettiest locations for receptions in Terre Haute. I've shot there before, but only in the evening. It was nice to have some nice natural light through the huge windows.

Megen and Peter's first dance was adorably entertaining.

The parent dances always make me tear up a bit.

So, I'm not much of a crier...but I think I might cry happy tears if I ever got a photo like this of me and my husband dancing with our daughter and her husband in the background. Of course, I have a good 12 years or so at LEAST...but I can't help thinking of those things at weddings!

And did I mention she was wearing her mom's dress?? LOVE that!

We left the reception for just a few minutes to take a few more photos. St. Mary's has such a pretty campus, with so many beautiful places for photos but we just stuck with one location so they wouldn't lose too much time with their guests.

I had such a great time with this little family on Sunday! I photographed Jay and Melissa's wedding back in 2012 so it was cool to see them again and catch up a little. Their baby JJ is just as sweet as can be. We did a Short and Sweet session at their home for JJ's 3-month photos.

I met Ashlee last year when she contacted me about headshots for her website (she's also a fabulously talented photographer at Heart and Key Photography in Terre Haute) and we've been friends ever since. We've been planning this session for quite a while, but it was rescheduled a few times due to Brent's work schedule. So...6 months later, we finally got it done!

We met at Fowler Park for this session and we were lucky that it was warm(ish) that day. It's been a long, cold winter here in Indiana!

Fowler Park is one of my very favorite places for sessions. There are so many different little spots, and thanks to the shade provided by the cabins I can shoot there pretty much any time of day (although I definitely still prefer morning and evening!).

Ashlee requested a few photos of her and Brent alone, so I was happy to oblige. This one is my absolute favorite. When Brent leaned in and kissed her forehead like that, I said, "oh, perfect!!!," and he said, "she is, isn't she?" Super sweet.

Your son's bedhead (that's still around at noon). Your daughter dancing around in a crazy mismatched outfit, complete with tutu and rain boots. Your kids huddled together in a blanket fort reading a stack of books. Family game night. Baking cookies with Grandma. Building endless Lego towers just to watch them fall. Cuddling in bed with the baby. These are the little moments that happen everyday, the ones you're going to miss someday, the ones that need to be captured in photos now because they'll be gone before you know it.

I love, love, love capturing little moments like this for myself and for other families. If you've never had a session like this, please consider it. I firmly believe that every family (especially those with little kids) should have a session like this done at least once.

Now for the details: the session fee is $450; the session can be at your home, your favorite park, favorite little cafe, or anywhere else your family likes to hang out together; and the session will last around 3 hours or so. If you want, we can do a few quick portraits while we're at it, but most of our time will be spent on normal everyday moments. Digital files with printing rights are included and will be delivered approximately a week after your session. You'll also get a 7x7 photobook about 3-4 weeks after the session.

This will probably be the easiest and most relaxed photoshoot you'll ever have. Just think - no need to coordinate outfits or (in most cases) worry about the weather, or worry about whether your child will smile for the camera (or even look at the camera). Just me, hanging out and capturing the sweet little moments that happen when your family is relaxing and having fun together.
