This is week 8 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "wild card."

We got free reign to shoot whatever we wanted this week for the project, but after I read "wild card" all I could think about was Jack. He's definitely the wild one in this family. He's loud, funny, sweet, emotional, energetic, and most of all he is unpredictable. You just never know what he's going to do or say.

He tells me I'm pretty about 50 times a day...which is super sweet, except he might yell "you're STUPID!" 5 seconds later. He gives the best hugs, makes the funniest facecs, he says the funniest things, and has the biggest imagination.

2013 seniors: Have you been putting off getting your senior photos done? It's not too late! You can schedule your session for March or April and still have your images in plenty of time for graudation announcements and parties.

2014 seniors: Anytime after your junior year is over is fair game for senior photos! Think about scheduling your photo shoot for the summer before senior year to get it out of the way before the craziness of senior year starts!

This is week 5 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "negative space...it's a positive thing!"

So, first of all, I really don't like the term "negative space." It just sounds so...you know...negative. White space or open space sounds so much nicer.

Joey is an artist. He's constantly doodling or making some project. He even spends indoor recess at school in the art room. I have a big roll of white seamless paper left over from my studio days so I got it out and let him draw on it yesterday.

The Bible says that man was made in God's image, so while we obviously are not God, there is a likeness. One of the things he shares with us is creativity. I mean, just look around and you can see that God is the ultimate creative genius. So every time we make something, every time we solve a problem, every time we create a work of art, we are proclaiming that we are made in God's image. Giving us the gift of creativity is one of the millions of ways God shows his love for us. Using that creativity to glorify him is a way we can show our love to God.

Joey has such a gift in art and I can't wait to see how he uses it for God as he grows up.
Want to win a free Short & Sweet session? It's super easy to enter!

Short and Sweet Session winner will be chosen on March 1 and the session must take place by April 30th.
This is week 5 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "Good Morning."

Our mornings start early. Like 5:30 early. Not my favorite time of the day, honestly. I get up when my husband gets up for work, I pack his lunch and kiss him goodbye. Then, depending on how late I was up the night before, and what kind of mood I'm in, I either go back to bed for an hour until it's time to get the kids up for school, or I go down to the basement and get a  little walking or jogging in.

Those mornings are the best...the ones that I have more patience  through the day, more energy, and just a generally better mood. That little bit of exercise and quiet time alone with God (I read the Bible on my Kindle and pray while I'm walking) does me more good than an extra hour of sleep ever could.

Ok, so Erin is my niece, so maybe I'm just a tiny bit biased...but isn't she just beautiful? She's an awesome girl, inside and out, and last week she had probably one of the best weeks ever. She made homecoming court at her school and was just over the moon excited about the whole thing. Of course, being the cool aunt that I am,  I was there to document the whole thing for her. I LOVE how happy she looks here, and I love that she's having such a great high school experience.

Did you get a ring for Christmas? After you pick a date, the next step is choosing a photographer. If you book your wedding with me before the end of February, you'll get 20% (that's $500!) off my all-inclusive wedding photography package. Click here for more wedding details or here to contact me.

I am super lucky to have such amazing clients that trust me to capture their family's memories for them. It's an honor I take seriously (but have a lot of fun with).

There are a few clients that have found me through internet searches, but most have come to me because a friend recommended me to them. I love that! I love that the images I made made someone so happy that they just had to share.

I've been thinking that I'd love to do something to thank those clients for sending their friends my way, and I've finally decided what to do.

If you've had a session with me and refer a friend, after their session you'll get your choice of a $50 credit off your next session. You can save your credits up and use more than one together and they never expire!

And to make the deal even sweeter, the friend you refer will get 10% off their session or wedding fee.

That's it. No fine print.  The person you refer just needs to give me your name (and I always ask if someone referred them). After a qualifying session I'll send you a quick email to let you know you have a credit.

If you have any questions about it, just email me at amy@amyfoltz.net or click here to send me a message.

This is week 5 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "Find the Light."

There's not a whole lot to say about this photo really - it's my sweet little girl Abbie looking out her bedroom window, probably wishing she could be outside playing (but since it's so cold here that the school called a 2-hour delay just for the wind chill today, playing outside is definitely out!)

When I saw the theme for this week, my mind immediately went to an old DC Talk song.

I wanna be in the light
As you are in the light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, lord be my light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the light
All I want is to be in the light
