Katy is a super sweet girl. She's a friend of my niece, so I'd met her a few times and I was super excited when her mom contacted me about her senior photos. We did this session on the campus of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. It's a pretty popular spot for photos in the area, so it's always a challenge to come up with something different, but I think we struck a pretty good balance.

Confession time here. I'm always a little jealous of photographers in big cities who have lots of photographer friends and post on Facebook and Instagram about going out for drinks, or helping each other with sessions or whatever. Living in a small town, I don't really get much of that. In fact, until recently, I only had ONE local photographer friend. Then I got a lovely email from Ashlee (of Heart and Key Photography) asking if I'd like to meet. Umm, YES! So, we met for lunch, talked way too long, and now I'm up to two photographer friends. We were supposed to meet up for a family session last week, but there were some scheduling problems so we ended up just doing a quick little session for headshots because she's working on updating her website. Out of the hour and a half that I was at her house, I think we spent maybe 15-20 minutes actually taking the photos and the other hour chatting about cameras, lenses, husbands, weddings, and about a hundred other random things. Good times.

Alyson is the sister of another client and when our first plan didn't work out due to a sick kid, she drove over from Indy to Terre Haute for their family session. When she told me she had two-year-old twins, I was a little worried. I have a two-year-old and while I think he's the coolest two-year-old around, I can't imagine keeping up with TWO of him, let alone getting good photos while keeping up. But I worried for nothing. Lauren and Brady were awesomely cooperative and adorable and this was actually one of the easiest family sessions I've done.

Sometimes my job is hard, but this time it was easy. Jacob is a really great guy, and didn't need a whole lot of direction. Like most senior boys, he wanted to get his photos done quickly. So we met in Clinton, stopped by four different locations, and were done in 45 minutes. Easy peasy. He was happy we were quick, and his mom loved the photos. Win/win!

This is my BFF/cousin's family, and while I photograph her kids a couple times a year, I haven't photographed the whole family since Rebekah was a newborn. Yeah, she's 3 now, so they were definitely overdue for a new family photo!

We started the session in Crystal's parents' backyard and ended up in a couple different spots in Clinton.

I love these kids. They're pretty awesome and always tons of fun.

Moms, please, please, please, get in the photo with your kids once in a while. Even if you don't want to, even if you don't want to show them to anyone, or have any plans to display them, just do it! Someday you'll be glad you did.

So, this is probably one of the most overused locations in Clinton (at least by me), but I love it anyway.

Rebekah calls her mommy her "snugglebug" so we had to do a snuggly photo. How cute are they?!?

It's so weird seeing kids I've known forever all grown up. I've known Jacob since he was about 2 and it's been fun watching him grow up. Now he's a senior so we went out yesterday afternoon for a quick photo shoot.

When we got to this alley, I mentioned that this is where I took this photo of Jack. Jacob thought is sounded cool and wanted to do something simliar, so he went home to grab his Batman shirt so we could take the photo on the left.

I know he wasn't super excited about having his photo taken (few senior guys are) but he was a good sport and we had a good time. More to come from this session later this week!

This is week 40 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "empty."

The kids have so much fun with the simplest things. Right now, they're all about bubble wrap and empty boxes. There's lots of both around the house right now because we're MOVING! Not sure of the exact date yet, probably sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we're super excited to be buying  a house out in the country - bigger house, 2 acres, and a barn. Super excited! I don't think Jonah really understands the whole thing, but he totally gets the excitement - he runs around yelling "buy new house! buy new house!".

This is week 39 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "everyday."

The iPad is something that everyone in our family uses every day, even Jonah. It's crazy how quick little kids learn things like that.

Lately, whenever Jonah wakes up in the morning, he (or Jack) grabs the iPad on his way in, and climbs in bed with me and watches a show on it. Some days that lasts 2 minutes, sometimes half an hour, but it's a nice little extra bit of rest I wouldn't otherwise get.

This is week 38 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "sunshine."

I love the light early in the morning, so I grabbed the camera when Jonah asked to ride his bike. He's just 2 and has already learned to ride a bike - with training wheels, of course, but still - that's pretty impressive, right? He's also pretty darn good on a scooter too. This kid loves anything with wheels.

On this morning, he was happily riding down our sidewalk and getting off and pushing anytime he couldn't make it over the grass. He's getting to be so big lately!
