I've been photographing Elisabeth since she was born (actually before she was born if you count her mom's maternity photos) and now it's time for her ten-year photoshoot! Time flies, right?

When we were planning her session, Elisabeth's mom said she wanted something a bit more grown-up than we've done before (after all, she is into the double digits now!) but I also knew she still needed to look like a kid...just a bigger kid. So after a couple of weeks of planning, and a couple of hours of shooting, this is what we came up with. I think they're pretty much a perfect mix of kid-ish fun and laughter and tween attitude.

We started the session in downtown Terre Haute near Indiana Theater (one of my very favorite places for sessions) and spent a few minutes in the parking garage (I know, it doesn't sound like a great spot, but there's some great lighting there and I really like what we got) and then on to Fairbanks Park for a few.

She's started piano lessons this past year and she is pretty amazing already.

Lifestyle and Storyteller session will be 25% off till the end of May.

This is week 17 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "to sleep or not to sleep."

One of the things that most impacts how my day is going to go is whether or not the little boys nap and for how long. They're a bit unpredictable, but the average nap lasts around two hours, maybe a little more. This gives me time to work, or clean, or read, or shower, or sometimes even nap myself, and I need that little bit of break in the middle of the day.

Then there are the days that Jonah spends nap time talking to himself in his crib and occasionally calling "Momma!!!! Mommaaaa!!!" There are the days that Jack lays on the couch (because them napping in the same room rarely works out well) and tosses and turns and makes noises just to stay awake. There are days when Jack tries to be sneaky and hides a toy or flashlight under his blanket. There are the days when they both sleep but only for half an hour then wake up grumpy and won't go back to sleep. There are the days that we need to run errands in the morning and they fall asleep in the van and ruin nap time. And then there are also a few rare days when they take 3 or 4 hour naps. Those days are nice.

This day happened to be a normal two-hour nap on the couch for Jack and a four-and-a-half hour nap for Jonah.

I love, love, love all babies, but newborns are especially sweet. They're so little, so new, so innocent, and so very cuddly. Baby Ashton is about as sweet and cuddly as they come. Kristy emailed me back before Christmas about setting up some newborn photos and I've been looking forward to April ever since.

We did this session in their home (mostly in the nursery) and the light was so soft and perfect for a newborn.

Little Miss Ashton has the best head of hair I think I've ever seen on a baby. Isn't she adorable? And just look at that little smile!

It's obviously easiest when newborns sleep through their whole session, but I also love it when they wake up for part of it. I always wonder what they're thinking when they're looking around with their big wide eyes, so fresh and innocent.

You can see more photos from this session on my facebook page. If you're looking for a newborn, baby, child, or family photographer in the Wabash Valley area, click here for details or here to contact me.
I met Evan and his dad at Fowler Park last week for his senior photos. I love that he wanted photos with his truck. It's cool when seniors (or anyone) brings something important to them to a session.

Corinne and Phil's wedding was one of those amazing days where you could just feel the love. Just seeing the way they looked at each other, it was clear how very much in love they are and how happy they were to be getting married.

The day started at the JW Marriott in downtown Indy. I met Corinne and her bridesmaids there and my second shooter (Erin from Erin Knowles Photography) met Phil and his groomsmen at Phil and Corinne's house.

Corinne and Phil's ceremony (at Christ the King Catholic Church) was beautiful. I'm not Catholic, but I really love Catholic weddings. They do a really great job of conveying the seriousness of marriage.

I LOVE this  - just look at how happy they both are!

After the ceremony, the church's wedding coordinator shooed the newlyweds off by themselves for a few minutes, then we took some quick photos in the church then headed off in a bus to their house to relax for a few minutes.

Next up was the corner where they met. Corinne and Phil actually met online and when it was time to meet in person they met at this corner to run. They ran that morning (8 miles instead of the 4 Phil was used to is the story I got) and went to a Halloween party that night and they've been together ever since.

After that we walked around near the Rathskeller for a bit before the reception started.

Next up: party time! Their reception was lovely and so much fun.

We sneaked away for a few minutes after dinner for a few more photos at the Biergarten.

Then it was time for a first dance. This is always one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. It's shocking how little time couples get to spend alone on their wedding day, and this is one of those times. Sure, everyone is watching them, but no one can hear what they're whispering to each other and no one is trying to talk to them. It just a time to focus on each other and it's always so sweet to watch.
