Types of Sessions

Storyteller Sessions are great for capturing real life. I'll spend up to 3 hours with you and your family capturing images that tell the story of your life right now. All images are black and white to help keep the focus on the personalities and relationships rather than the clothes or environment.

Think about what you want to remember about your life right now...is it hanging out at home on Saturday mornings, hiking with the whole family, your baby's silly antics? Whatever it is, we can work together to capture beautiful images that you'll treasure forever!

We can cover as many locations and activities as you can fit into the session time and there is a little direction but no posing. It's just you and your family being yourself! The cost for Storyteller Sessions is $395 and includes a custom-designed album including all your edited images.

Love this idea, but still need a portrait for family? It's usually not a problem to throw in a couple of posed shots as well!

Lifestyle Sessions  still focus on personality and relationships, but there is more posing and styling involved. The sessions usually last around 2 hours and we can fit in a couple of different locations. The total number of images varies but will be a mix of both black and white and color. Lifestyle sessions cost $395 and include a custom-designed album including all your edited images.

****There is a $50 deposit required to book your session, payable via check or paypal, with the remainder due via paypal 24 hours before your session or with cash or check at the session.****

Storyteller Lite and Lifestyle Mini sessions are also available. Half the time and the images on CD (no album) for $285

Location ideas:
The best location is one that means something to you, but if you're drawing a blank and need some help, here are a few suggestions: your home or favorite park, Fowler Park, Deming Park or Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute, Bridgeton, any of the covered bridges in Parke County, or walking around downtown.

Clothing suggestions:
Your images are all about you, so wear what YOU like! Make sure it's something you're comfortable in and can move around in easily and something you feel good in!

Newborns can either be naked (just make sure your house is REALLY warm!), or in simple sleepers or onesies. I can bring some hats for boys and headbands for girls if you request them, but if you prefer to buy your own to keep, I suggest ordering hats from leapoffaithdesigns.etsy.com. She has great prices and really quick turnaround. Headbands are SO easy to make yourself...some elastic, silk flowers and hot glue are all you really need. It's also a good idea to have some cute receiving blankets or thin cotton blankets handy for your session.

For kids, I personally try to avoid big logos or cartoon characters on clothing, unless it's something they REALLY love, and comfort is especially important for kids! I have a few props I can bring if requested (red wagon, an old wicker bassinet, a few chairs), but it's usually a lot better if we use something your kids already have and love, like their teddy or blankie, or some toy or piece of furniture. The props shouldn't be just "pretty things", but they should actually have some significance to you or say something about your child. If there is something you'd like to use but don't have, just let me know and I may have some suggestions.

For families, don't feel like you need to all match, just make sure you don't clash! Keep everyone in the same color family and be careful mixing patterns.

For seniors, wear whatever you would normally wear! Yes, those trendy outfits will make your photos look dated in 10 years, but isn't that the point? I want to capture what you're like right now, crazy fashions and all! Feel free to bring along any props you want to use, anything that's important to you.

Some tips for kids:
Two tips: careful bribery and making it fun for them! Oh, and no saying "cheese"!

After the session:
I will post a sneak peak (usually 3-5 photos) on my blog within a day or two after your session, then I will email you a link to an online gallery with all your edited photos about a week after your session. I will mail your CD to you as soon as the editing is complete. If your session includes an album, it will take about 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

You can order prints directly from the gallery I set up for you and they will come from the professional lab that use myself. Or, if you prefer to print locally, you'll also receive a CD with a print release so you can have your photos printed anywhere you want (but I recommend a camera store, not WalMart!)
