I took Abbie out for a few photos a couple of weeks ago. Lucky for me, she is always up for a little modeling. She chose almost everything about this session - I just made a couple of suggestions and took the photos. Being a photographer is on her short list of career aspirations, right after being a Broadway dancer or a teacher. I miss the days when she said she wanted to be a butterfly when she grew up.

This session got a little bit of a late start due to some road construction, but it's probably a good thing - by the time we actually started, the light was so soft and perfect! I can't wait to photograph Kaity and Billy's wedding at this same spot in October!

The kids' summer break was only 8 weeks this year (due to a new balanced school calendar, which we actually really like), but we made the most of it. We only signed them up for 4H camp and the library summer reading program. No sports or any other camps or anything. It was great - we slept in late most days, had lots of days at the park or with friends, and honestly had a lot of couch potato days too. We spent a day at the beach at Indiana Dunes, spent a few days camping at Turkey Run, watched plenty of fireworks, and built a playhouse/fort.
