This is week 37 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "fear."
Other than an occasional bit of squealing during a scary movie, Abbie is pretty much fearless. Not the least little bit of stage fright, and certainly no fear of heights or movement or anything else. She LOVES those bungee trampoline things and everytime we see one she just has to do it. This time was at the Little Italy Festival in Clinton.
This is week 36 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "time."
Time...where does the time go?!? Seems like just yesterday Joey was born and now he is TEN!

These boots have been around for quite a while - we bought them on a whim from Old Navy when our oldest was about one or two. At age 2 or 3, each of our kids has been obsessed with these boots and insisted on wearing them everywhere for a while. These boots have been through everything from splashing in mud puddles to hiking through the woods, trips to Wal-Mart, church, and running around the backyard. They're especially adorable paired with a superman cape or a dress.
Now that Jonah, our last baby, is wearing them, it's a little sad to think that we're almost done with these cute little boots. I'm pretty sure they'll need to be put up on a shelf or away in a keepsake box or something.

This family is always SO much fun to photograph! This was their fourth session with me (I also did Bayah's newborn, 6-month, and one-year sessions) and I always look forward to seeing them.
Both kids were so, so, so good for this session. (Jess, I know you think they weren't, but trust me, they were great). Briar insisted on wearing his new rain boots, which I thought were super awesome.
Bayah has grown up SO much in the last year and it was fun to see her adorable little personality.
This pond? It's on their property. Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous.
Briar is apparently not a fan of swinging high.
I love that their dog, Denver, was so cooperative for the photos! We got quite a few images with him. If you have pets, think about including them in family photos once in a while!
Bayah is already quite a girly little girl and insisted on wearing this stack of bracelets. So cute!
This is Briar's bunny. He was too busy with his bike and tractors to want to stop for a photo with bunny, but I finally convinced him to sit for about 2 seconds. Ok, so maybe it was Jess bribing him with candy. Whatever, it worked! Parents, make sure you get photos with your kids' favorite toys! My son used to have a stuffed bear that we were convinced he was going to take to college and his honeymoon, but now that he's 10, Juicy is in a box in the basement and it makes me a little sad. Yes, his bear's name was Juicy, and we never did figure out why he named him that.

I can't wait to sit down next week and edit the images from this session! SO many cute little moments captured! These couldn't wait though, so here's a little sneak peek for Briar and Bayah's mommy!
I love how word-of-mouth works. A couple of years ago I photographed a family in Paris, IL (I've actually photographed them 3 times now) and they told a friend up in West Lafayette (also done 3 sessions with that family) and now that family told another friend, and that's how I met Jana. She called me just a couple weeks before Josiah was born to set up this session and I was so excited to be able to capture photos of such a sweet (and hectic, crazy, exhausting) time in their life.
Somehow I was lucky enough be there when big sister Vivienne held Josiah for the first time. It was pretty much the sweetest thing ever.
Chris and Jana moved here to Indiana from New York City five years ago and having a bean field behind their house is kind of big deal for them, so we had to get a few photos in their back yard too.

This is one of my very favorite families - and they happen to actually be my family. Terri is my husband's sister, and Buddy's parents are best friends with my parents. If Buddy and Terri hadn't gotten together, chances are that Daniel and I would never have even met. So...yeah, I'm pretty glad they got together!
Even though they're family, it's been an embarrassingly long time since I've photographed them - five years, to be exact. Crazy, right? (If you're the curious/nosy type like me, you can see their last photos here and here)
So, without further ado, here are some of my favorites from the Hamke family's most recent session. We did the entire session in their woods and by the road near their house. Yes, this little creek is on their property. How cool is that?

Lauren and David were married at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in West Terre Haute and have since moved to Tennessee. They were in town a couple of weeks ago for a friend's wedding and decided to have a session at St. Mary's with their new daughter Kennedy.
Kennedy is such a sweet little baby, and gave me a sweet smile early on but of course the camera wasn't even out yet. Then she decided a nap was a better option. Luckily, babies are adorable awake or asleep, so that was fine with us!

This is week 34 for the This is Our Life project and the theme is "secret."
Truth is...Daniel is a much better cook than I am. I don't mind doing it, and I certainly enjoy eating a good meal, but Daniel is a bit of a perfectionist and it definitely shows in the kitchen. If he's home, I rarely make a meal without some sort of input from him, and he usually cooks at least one or two meals on the weekends.
When we were first married, I think it might have even been the first week, I tried to make sloppy joes, and he'll never let me live that one down. Apparently, hamburger, onion, green pepper, and bottled BBQ sauce are NOT sloppy joes. For the record, my sister makes hers the same way. Anyway, he's been in charge of sloppy joes ever since and he has some sort of secret ingredient so I don't even try anymore. He can keep his secret, as long as he keeps cooking!
